Rene' comes from an extensive Animal Control background. She retired from Lake County Animal Services in Lake County, FL in 2010. As the Assistant Director Rene' put in long hours supporting her team of 13 road officers, 2 dispatchers, and 19 shelter personal. With her FEMA qualifications Rene' also manned the Emergency Operations Center during disasters for the county. She spent many hours during Hurricanes assisting citizens with their animal needs and concerns and coordinating disaster response by her personnel.
Since her relocation to TN and hire date with our city on July 18, 2013, Rene' has made great improvements at the shelter, (pound). The adoption rate has drastically increased and the euthanasia rate has fallen. Rene' was also named Animal Control Officer of the Year by the Southeastern Animal Control Association in 2014.
Stop by the shelter and see the improvements, meet Rene', and find a FURever pet!
The City of Lawrenceburg Animal Shelter is located on Skyline Dr. off of Hwy 64 behind Bob’s Import sales.
The Animal Control Officer’s hours are 8-4, Monday-Friday, however, may only be at the shelter between the hours of 11-2. Please call the officer @ 931 242-3511 to make sure the officer is at the shelter and not out on the road.
The shelter is expanding and has a good variety of dogs and puppies to choose from. You may access photos and information regarding all the dogs at the shelter by going to the Petfinder.com website. When you get to the site you need to select “find a shelter” then enter Lawrenceburg’s zip code…..38464….. in the space provided. The adoption fee is $25.00 cash and will be refunded if the adopted dog is spayed/neutered within 30 days.
When calling in reference to a dog please advise the officer of the dog’s number and/or name to get further information regarding that animal. The shelter holds monthly adoption days that run on Saturdays from 11-2, however, adoptions are welcome anytime the officer is at the shelter.
Our shelter also has a team of wonderful volunteers that help out at the shelter. With the hard work of these volunteers our shelter currently has a 92% adoption rate! If you are interested in being a volunteer please contact the Assistant Chief of Police Daren Goolsby for an interview.
