|A motion was made by
Commissioner Pulley to approve the minutes of the September 13, 2001
meeting; with a second by Commissioner Goolsby, the motion passed.
Mayor Lay praised our nations citizens and leaders and asked everyone to continue to pray for them.
Mayor Lay also reminded everyone that the fair will be here next week.
Mrs. Anne Morrow, with the Lawrenceburg Beautification Board, addressed the Commission concerning the Third Quarter Clean-Up. This is in conjunction with Lawrence County Government and is centered on our schools. On Saturday, September 22, Parks Maintenance personnel will be stationed at schools located inside the city limits and trash may be dropped off from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and the school will be credited for the amount. Schools outside the city may take their collection to the landfill between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. They will need to name the school for credit there. Eleven thousand pounds was collected in June. There will be cash prizes from Lawrence County Government; first place $200.00; second place $150.00; third place $100.00; fourth place $75.00. All schools that participate and have at least 100 pounds will receive $25.00.
The autumn scene decorating has become a contest this year, residential and commercial. First place $200.00, second place $100.00 and third place $75.00, for each category. We are asking people to start the first week of October.
Ms. Morrow also reported on "Anti Litter Clubs" for elementary schools. Details are still being worked on, but the clubs will be called "Lawrenceburg Patriots", with a theme song, "This Land is Your Land".
The Southern Charm and Gold Star Awards are still being awarded and anyone with questions or comments may reach Ms. Morrow at 762-0068.
With no further business to come before the meeting a motion was made by Commissioner Pulley to adjourn, with a second by Commissioner Goolsby. The next scheduled meeting will be October 4, 2001.
