Commissioner Gowen to approve the minutes of the September 6, 2001
meeting; with a second by Commissioner Goolsby, the motion passed.
Commissioner Pulley made a statement about citizens taking the allegiance to the flag and country very seriously. We should all pull together in the spirit of the freedom we so much enjoy.
Mr. Cromer Smotherman invited all citizens to a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m., Saturday evening on the Public Square, where we can all share in grief and concern and show faith and patriotism through song and prayer.
Carolyn Wright, Case Coordinator with Crockett Hospital Rehab Unit made a statement about National Rehab Awareness Week, September 16-21, 2001. Crockett Hospital Rehab Unit has been opened almost 5 years. Crockett Hospital is the only acute rehab unit within a 75-mile radius and is proud to be CARF accredited. We are fortunate to be a part of a hospital that offers these services close to home.
Chief Don Kelley announced the Fire Department took applications, beginning July 22 through August 20, for Fire Inspector. He had 33 applicants and interviewed 5 that met the qualifications. Our own, Shelton Barnett has been certified as a Fire Inspector since 1995 and received his Fire Officer Certificate this year, 2001. Mr. Barnett will be the City of Lawrenceburg, Fire Inspector.
Commissioner Lindsey made a motion to accept the recommendation of Mr. Barnett, motion received a second from Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.
Attorney Alan Betz had one ordinance for consideration:
#947 - To fix the time and place at which the regular meetings of the Board of Mayor and Commissioners shall be held. The meeting shall be held on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Lawrenceburg City Administration Building Commission Meeting Room at 10:00 a.m. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Goolsby. Motion passed.
With that motion Attorney Betz announced that next Thursday will be the third Thursday, and a meeting will be held.
With no further business to come before the meeting a motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned.
