Commission Meeting Minutes
City Of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee
August 2, 2001

A motion was made by Commissioner Gowen to approve the minutes of the July 26 meeting; with a second by Commissioner Lindsey, the motion passed.

Mayor Lay announced the retirement of Louis Fite after 14 years of service to the Lawrenceburg Police Department. Mayor also announced the upcoming Antique Tractor and Engine Show on August 18 and 19. It is important the city look good for our visitors. We ask the citizens as well as ourselves to make a special effort to make and keep our city clean and attractive.

Mayor Lay announced a public meeting to be held on August 9, at 6:30 p.m. at Rotary Park to present a plan to the citizens for storm water management in the City of Lawrenceburg.

Police Chief Shay informed the commission and citizens on the Police Department's need for four new officers. We have lost some to resignation and some to retirement. We need four more officers to be in compliance with our COPS Grant program. We hope to have these new officers placed by September. Also, concerning the intersection on Highway 43 and the Dunn/Old Florence Road and the intersection on East Gaines and Annie Rooney Road. The State of Tennessee Department of Transportation has been contacted and a traffic study requested. They will come back with recommendations for these intersections.

Attorney Holt was present for Attorney Betz and had four ordinance and three resolutions for presentation:

A Public Hearing was held on Ordinance # 944 for the 2001-2002 Fiscal Year Budget. With no one wishing to address the ordinance the public hearing was closed.

#944 - An ordinance to approve the budget appropriations of revenue and expenditures for the 2001-2002 fiscal year providing for the operation, administration and maintenance for the municipal government for the City of Lawrenceburg, as amended from the July 19, first reading. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Lindsey. Motion passed

#945 - An ordinance to establish the 2001 property tax rate; to levy taxes and to levy ad valorem taxes on all property, real and personal, within the corporate limits of the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, subject to taxation. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Motion passed

#937 - An ordinance to amend Ordinance Number 789 entitled the "Zoning Ordinance of the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee", by adding a new Section 4.301 Et Seq in Article IV, and to amend Section 14-201 of the Lawrenceburg Municipal Code to add a chapter entitled Grading Operations. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.

#946 - An ordinance to amend ordinance #931, being the 2000-2001 fiscal year budget for the City of Lawrenceburg. Motion to approve on first reading was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Goolsby. Motion passed.

RESOLUTION(S)

01-02-8A - To accept the bid from Evers Construction Company for reproofing of Crockett Theater to be funded through Series A Bond Funds in the amount of $95,348.00. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Lindsey. Motion passed.

01-02-8B - To charge off bad debts in the Water, Sewer Gas and Sanitation Departments in the amount of $14,547.82. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.

01-02-8C - For the City of Lawrenceburg to dissolve the Utilities Board Advisory Committee. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Motion passed.

With no further business to come before the board a motion was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Gowen to adjourn. Motion passed, meeting adjourned.
