Commissioner Lindsey to approve the minutes of the July 5 meeting; with
a second by Commissioner Gowen, the motion passed.
Mayor Lay announced the meeting held with TDOT and Commissioner Saltsman concerning the widening of Highway 43 project and storm water drainage was successful. Every entity knows their part, Federal, State and Local; and we are committed to solving this drainage problem. We will publicly announce the plan shortly.
A Public Hearing was held on Ordinance #940. One person spoke on the subject and the hearing was closed.
Fire Chief Don Kelley presented a Fire Station Proposal to the Commission. A study was done by MTAS, and it was recommended that we sell Station #2, and build a new one in the Springer Road area. We hope to have this accomplished within this budget year. A new station is proposed for the west section of town and we would hope to have that done in the 2003 budget year. The new station will require new equipment and more manpower.
Attorney Betz had two ordinances and three resolutions for presentation:
#940 - To amend sections 7-401 and 7-402 of the Lawrenceburg Municipal Code, by deleting Sections 7-401 and 7-402 in their entirety and replaced with a new Section 7-401. Concerning the sale and shooting of fireworks inside the City of Lawrenceburg. Motion to approve on second and final reading was made by Commissioner Pulley, with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.
#943 - To transfer the responsibility for the City of Lawrenceburg Water Department, Sewer Department and Gas Department to the Lawrenceburg Board of Public Utilities from the Board of Mayor and Commissioners. To amend Ordinance Numbers 884 and, 932, Title 2, Chapter 4, Title 2, Chapter 6, Title 19, Chapter 2, Title 19, Chapter 3 of the Lawrenceburg Municipal Code. Motion to approve on first reading was made by Commissioner Lindsey, with a second by Commissioner Gowen. Motion passed.
01-12-7A - For the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee to enter into an agreement of sale with the State of Tennessee (Project #BRZE-5000/50951-2454-94) to convey Tract 2 of the Right of Way Plan. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gowen with a second by Commissioner Lindsey. Motion passed.
01-12-7B - To accept the bid from Lincoln Utility contractors for Weakley Creek Road Wastewater Pump Station in the amount of $99,892.00. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Pulley. Motion passed.
01-12-7C - To accept the bid from Ditch Witch Equipment of Tennessee, Inc. for 4 1/8" piercing tool with hose and oiler in the amount of $5,845.00. Motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gowen, with a second by Commissioner Lindsey. Motion passed.
With no further business to come before the board a motion was made by Commissioner Pulley, with a second by Commissioner Gowen to adjourn. Motion passed, meeting adjourned.
